At the Music and Audio Research Center at Emory, students use computer science to design their own instruments, and then compose music with them."Technology can be used for both the creation of music and the analysis of it," says Steve Everett, director of the center. "What I do as a composer is try to take a live performer on a violin or a voice, any kind of instrument, then have the performer go through the technology and actually collaborate with the computer. It opens up a lot more possibilities for expressive instruments."
